Jay, are you sure it is not a Spesco P51? That is what your description would indicate. I have never heard of a P52, nor could I find them on the web. The P51 has been a topic here on the forum in the past, and would truly classify as an SNS.
First, Spesco was a post-ban importer of cheap pistols, revolvers and rifles from Germany, Spain and Brazil. I think some of the parts will interchange with an RG, and maybe other pistols.
As for cost, nice Spesco's seem to trade hands for about $60-100 these days, so the price is towards the high end, but if you can get it for $100 "out the door" it would be an OK deal...if it is $100, plus shipping, plus FFL fee, then I would recommend passing. Parts are available, but high. As for reliability, the posts I have read give it "typical" SNS marks, meaning, you need to find the ammo that works, may need to do a fluff & buff, and keep the pistol lightly (key word) oiled.
Hope this helps. Keep us informed with your decision. _________________ Can a JA22 last 10K rounds? Mine did!

Never having one to shoot, I can't give any personal experience. But I did a search about four months ago and came up with a few tid-bits.
A few accounts put the Spesco at "OK" in initial quality and function. But the reliability drops off precipitously with use. They seem to get sloppy very quickly. _________________ Maine. A subsidiary of China. |

It is $100 FTF private party with 40 rounds of ammo. He fired 1 magazine thru it and stuck it in his safe in 1973 where it has sat since then. Yes it is a p51 with box and instructions.
PS OK got it and it has 18 rounds, took a picture with cell phone, if any one will pM there cell phone # I can forward it to you if you know how to post it. I don't know how, my own self. Looks new, He bought 2 stuck one in a safe under some papers and discovered just recently after 37 years, yes sitting in a safe that long. nice heft to it. _________________ Mister Sir |

I don't know anything personally, but found this on another forum: "Spesco Corp imported and marketed SXS's and several other types of firarms mady by Miguel Larranaga of Spain back in 1969"
Looking forward to pictures! _________________ I have faith in the arms of totalitarian regimes: they rely on them as their only means of survival. |

Well(thats a deep subject), I took it to the range today and shot 8 rounds out of it at 25' dead on the bullseye it hit a 2" group 1.5" above the bullseye. I wish I could get my J22 to shoot that well, it shots to the right and all over at 20'. The P51 would be deadly as a self defense pocket rocket but at $18 per 50 rounds it will not be shot much. _________________ Mister Sir |
