I always lock the slide back, first, even though this increases the spring pressure a tad. This keeps the spring captive while you remove the barrel. Just make sure you put a finger/magazine over the top of the spring when you release the slide.
I can't budge the lever with my fingers, but the bottom of a magazine (in lieu of the aforementioned screwdriver/punch) gives plenty of leverage to pop the lever.
Field strip = super easy. |
