i know i may get some heat for this but i have to share anyway.
i was bored and decided to make a 410 slugout of a spent 380 shell and a intact hollow point i had..so i started by opening up a 410 nitro clay shot shell and dumped out all the shot..then filled the spent 380 shell with the shot put the hollow point in and crimped..then i pushed the finished slug down the empty 410 shell abd sawed off the excess plastic from where i opened the shell.
now i go outside take aim at my 3/4 ply wood target and boom!..a whole the size of a quater..the was only at 20 yards but it hit dead on |

As long as the "slug" weighs less than the shot charge did you should be ok. There is a company that actually makes custom .410 slug ammo with lead bullets that protrude out the end like a rifle round. I think they also make NEF shotguns with rifled bores for this ammo. _________________ If man could be crossed with the cat, it would improve man but deteriorate the cat. -Mark Twain |

To add into Ferg's comment, what was the grain weights on both the original shot and the newly-formed slug? _________________ "...because I can't carry a whole cop." |
